Firm Overview

A large part of the firm's practice relates to insurance defense litigation, worker's compensation, and subrogation actions. Notably, in addition to third-party defense actions, the firm also handles a fairly substantial volume of first-party, coverage dispute matters. Firm members provide a diverse base of knowledge which includes experience in various claims capacities.

The firm has been actively involved in assisting insurance companies and other organizations combat insurance fraud through drafting and assisting in the enactment of new legislation, promoting public awareness, and by vigorously investigating and defending lawsuits on behalf of insurance companies and their insureds. The firm's attorneys play active roles in NSPII, IASIU, DRI, DTCI, IACA, I-ACT and other organizations.

The firm is committed to providing the highest quality legal services to its clients on a timely basis and to promote its clients' interests within the legal and ethical boundaries imposed upon the law profession. Charles T. Jennings - Partner
Education: Indiana University, A.B. 1969; Indiana University School of Law-Indianapolis, J.D. (summa cum laude) (1977). Admitted to Indiana Bar 1978; admitted to practice before the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Indiana. Member of the Indianapolis, Indiana State, and American Bar Associations.

Prior to the private practice of law, Mr. Jennings was employed in claims capacities with Meridian Mutual Insurance Company, Inc., Cincinnati Insurance Company, and Aetna Insurance Company.

Member of the Defense Research Institute and charter member of the Indiana Chapter of the National Society of Professional Insurance Investigators (NSPII). Mr. Jennings is a former President of the National Chapter of NSPII and was the Seminar Chairman for NSPII's 1997 and 1998 Advanced Insurance Fraud Seminars. Former member and chairman of the Indianapolis Insurance Arbitration Committee, and Fire and Allied Line Arbitration Committee. Mr. Jennings is also a member of the Sports Lawyers Association.

Mr. Jennings has received his CPCU designation, and is a member of the Indiana Chapter of CPCU and the Society of CPCU.

Mr. Jennings' practice is devoted primarily to insurance law and includes as clients several major national and Indiana insurance companies involved in first and third party cases.

David L. Taylor - Partner
Admitted to the Indiana Bar, 1986; admitted to practice before the U.S. Court of Appeals, Seventh Circuit, and the U.S. District Court for the Northern and Southern Districts of Indiana.
Registered Civil Mediator. Mr. Taylor received an AV Peer Rating from Martindale-Hubbell.

Education: Wabash College, B.A. cum laude 1983; Indiana University School of Law - Indianapolis J.D. 1986.

Mr Taylor is a member of the Indiana State Bar Association; American Bar Association, Tort and Insurance Practice Section, Sports and Entertainment Practice Section, and General Litigation Section; Defense Trial Counsel of Indiana; Defense Research Institute; National Society of Professional Insurance Investigators; and The Sports Lawyer Association.

While at law school, Mr. Taylor was a Student Bar Association Representative; judicial clerk for Hamilton County Circuit and Superior Courts, served as a research assistant for Professor Debra A. Falender, and served as President and Member of International Board of Directors, and received a National Outstanding Student Member Award from Delta Theta Phi Law Fraternity International. While in college, Mr. Taylor was active in Young Republicans, Mock Trials, Beta Theta Pi Social Fraternity, Student Senate, Psi Chi Honorary Fraternity, Sphinx Club, and was Captain of the Varsity Baseball Team.

Mr. Taylor has practiced law in private practice in the Indianapolis, Indiana region since 1986. Prior to joining Jennings Taylor Wheeler & Haley, P.C. in 1993, Mr. Taylor was an associate attorney and partner at an Indianapolis general litigation firm practicing in the areas of insurance defense, personal injury, insurance coverage, corporate law, construction defects litigation, and class action litigation.

Mr. Taylor's practice is devoted primarily to personal injury defense, insurance coverage, insurance law, mediation, arbitration, premises liability, alcoholic beverage liability, uninsured/underinsured motorists cases, general civil litigation, commercial litigation, trade secrets litigation, complex litigation, construction litigation, corporate law, real estate, nonprofit organizations, and sports law. Mr. Taylor has also handled a significant number of appeals, and has been a frequent speaker on litigation, insurance and sports law topics. Mr. Taylor has served as an agent to numerous professional baseball players, is registered with the State of Indiana as a Sports Agent, and is certified as an Agent by the Major League Baseball Players Association.

Mr. Taylor resides in Zionsville, Indiana, where he is active in youth sports and charity work. He has four (4) children. He serves as a volunteer youth baseball and basketball coach and is a founder and director of Indiana Bulls Baseball, Inc. and Zionsville Youth Baseball, Inc. He is a director and general counsel for the Enis Furley Foundation, Inc., an Indiana Nonprofit Corporation which operates outreach programs as well as a camp for ill or disadvantaged children and their families, founded by Major League Baseball star Scott Rolen.

Stephen C. Wheeler - Partner
Admitted to the Indiana Bar, 1989; admitted to practice before the U.S. District Court for the Northern and Southern Districts of Indiana.

Education: Ball State University, B.S., (cum laude); Honors College, 1985; Washington College of Law at The American University-Washington D.C., J.D. (cum laude) 1989. Member of the Indianapolis and Indiana State Bar Associations.

While attending law school, Mr. Wheeler served as a Law Clerk for the U.S. Department of Justice, Bureau of Prison, Office of General Counsel. Also, Mr. Wheeler represented individual veterans before the U.S. Board of Veteran Appeals in Washington, D.C.

Thomas R. Haley III - Partner
Admitted to the Indiana Bar, 1987; admitted to practice before the U.S. Court of Appeals, Seventh Circuit, and the U.S. District Courts for the Northern and Southern Districts of Indiana.

At Jennings Taylor Wheeler & Haley, Mr. Haley has principal responsibilities for the firm's federal court cases and its appellate practice, both state and federal. He has authored or consulted on numerous successful appeals, including liability/defense coverage, uninsured/underinsured motorist, arson, and fraud cases. Mr. Haley works both in the firm's first-party area, including coverage and declaratory judgments, property losses, arson, fraud, and uninsured/underinsured motorist, and third-party liability/defense cases. Mr. Haley has authored and spoken on these topics at numerous attorney education seminars and insurer programs.

During law school, Mr. Haley was appointed by the Governor to a two-year term as a Trustee of Indiana University. He also served as a federal court intern, and was employed by the Hoosier State Press Association as a law clerk and lobbyist.

After graduation from law school, Mr. Haley served for two years as a judicial clerk to the Honorable James E. Noland, U.S. District Judge for the Southern District of Indiana. Prior to joining Jennings Taylor Wheeler & Haley, P.C., Mr. Haley practiced at a general business/civil litigation Indianapolis law firm in the areas of insurance defense, first-party insurance and coverage litigation, appellate litigation, commercial litigation, intellectual property law, governmental relations/lobbying, and corporate/general business/labor work and litigation.

Joseph A. Samreta - Associate

Prior to joining Jennings Taylor Wheeler & Haley, P.C., Mr. Samreta served as a deputy in the Indiana Attorney General's Office, where he represented the State of Indiana in criminal and civil appeals at all levels of the federal and state appellate courts. As a Deputy Attorney General, Mr. Samreta authored hundreds of appellate briefs on behalf of the State of Indiana on various topics and issues. Mr. Samreta has also served as an associate attorney with a general practice law firm where he practiced in the areas of general litigation, insurance defense litigation, corporate litigation, workers compensation, and appellate litigation.

Jeffrey W. Ferrand - Associate
Admitted to the Indiana Bar, 2003; admitted to practice before the U.S. District Court for the Northern and Southern Districts of Indiana.

Education: Wabash College, B.A. 2000; Indiana University School of Law-Indianapolis, J.D., 2003.

During law school, Mr. Ferrand served as a judicial clerk to the Honorable James Kirsch, Indiana Court of Appeals. He also served as a law clerk in the Indiana Attorney General's Office, specializing in the area of Civil Rights litigation.

Margaret A. Molloy - Associate

During law school, Ms. Molloy clerked for an AV-rated general litigation and insurance defense law firm, served as a research assistant to the Dean Emeritus of Indiana University School of Law, interned with the State of Indiana, was appointed Lieutenant Governor for the 7th Circuit-ABA Law Student Division and was certified as a mediator.

Ms. Molloy currently practices in all areas of the firm’s first-party and third-party litigation cases, and practices extensively in the areas of premises liability, construction litigation, corporate law and business litigation, dram shop liability and uninsured/underinsured motorist coverage. She is currently a member of both the Indiana Bar Association and the Indianapolis Bar Association.

Cameron G. Starnes - Associate

Cari L. Sheehan - Associate

In addition, Ms. Sheehan served as a judicial intern for Judge Tanya Pratt, Marion County Superior Court, Criminal I, and for Judge Barbara Collins, Marion County Circuit Court, Criminal VIII.

Ms. Sheehan currently practices in all areas of the firm’s first-party and third-party litigation cases. She is a member of the Indiana Bar Association, the Indianapolis Bar Association, and the American Bar Association.

Ms. Sheehan volunteers at Child Advocates in Marion County, Indiana assisting Guardian Ad Litems in the assessment of factors contributing to the acts of abuse, neglect, or delinquency as identified by the court by interviewing and speaking out for the child.
